Jalisco New Generation Cartel Determined To Show Its Strength

Mexican Police

The cartel blocked roads and burned vehicles on Friday forcing police to take action.

Mexican drug cartel, Jalisco New Generation is not giving up on showing how powerful they are, recently they have been setting fires, attacking police and destroying private property. It all escalated on Friday, right after state officials said they will put an end to the reign of criminals in the west part of their country.

After a series of violent crimes including seven deaths forced the Mexican government to send a military helicopter to stop the madness, but even then that wasn’t enough since the helicopter had to land shortly afterwards because it was hit in the rear rotor.

The helicopter was carrying 18 members of the state security force. The outcome of this incident is 10 injured soldiers and 3 still missing.

Monte Alejandro Rubido from the National Security Commission said “In reaction to the federal presence, members of the criminal group began several actions in a bid to thwart the actions of the security agencies.”

The main concentration of police is in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco. A state prosecutor warned people of the situation saying on his Twitter “Remain calm. If you have no reason to leave your house, don’t go out.”This Saturday there were just a few people on the streets, scared for their own safety as constant gunfire was exchanged between the cartel and military.

By the end of the weekend the situation was calm, but police was still working under “code red”.

The government of Mexico decided to go head on with the cartels leader Nemesio Oseguira, better known as El Mencho, who is involved in drug trafficking with Europe, Asia, South Africa and Australia and is considered the richest drug lord in the country.

It is believed that Oseguira’s organization became so powerful that now they are producing their own guns which helped them expand their business to gun trafficking as well and adding more clients to their list.

The New Generation took over business from all major drug cartels in Mexico including the Zetas, Gulf and Knight Templar, while continuing to work with the Los Cuinis cartel. What makes them more dangerous than other gangs is the fact that many ex military staff not just from Mexico joined their side.

This case has attracted attention of US officials with every known bank account leading to Oseguira in America being closed and the US is now offering help to the Mexican government in manpower, training and equipment.

Less than a month ago the cartel’s men attacked a police convoy which led to constant killings and mutual attacks. Since then more than 20 police officers have been killed.
