One Direction’s Zayn Mailk and Louis Tomlinson have been told they must pay $5000 each (200,000 pesos bond and 20,000 pesos processing fee) to guarantee they will not use drugs while performing in the Philippines this weekend. The sum will be forfeited if either of the pair are caught promoting or using illegal drugs while in Manila for their upcoming concerts.

The band members have been told to receive their special work permits they must post the bonds through their concert producer. The Anti-Drugs Advocate group has called on the Philippines Bureau of Immigration to strictly scrutinise the band members’ permits following a video that was posted on YouTube of Malik and Tomlinson allegedly smoking marijuana.

The band performs on 21 and 22 March at the seaside Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Manila.

The anti-drugs group is concerned about the band’s influence on fans:

“The condition is intended to protect the public interest should the band members commit any violation during their stay in the Philippines.” “We want to see their pure, raw, untainted talent,” without need for them to take drugs said Elaine Tan – a spokeswomen for the agency.

It’s believed their producer went to the Immigration Bureau on Thursday to post the bonds to avoid disruption to their concert.

Following the leak of the video last year, One Direction’s Liam Payne tweetted an apology, saying “I love my boys and maybe things have gone a little sideways. I apologize for that.”

He said: “We are only in our 20’s and we all do stupid things at this age.”
